Shannara Trilogy
The Sword of Shannara - The classic tale which started it all. It is a time when the Races of the world would rather prefer to live in isolation instead of sharing what they know. Which makes it a perfect time for evil to strike. Eight adventurers set out to retrieve the only weapon which may be used to defeat this evil. Along the way they face perilous journeys, unimaginable nightmares come alive, and a hopeless quest. All for the sole reason to aquire the Sword of Shannara and defeat the wicked Warlock Lord.
The Elfstones of Shannara - Before the Great Wars, and the Old Race of Man, there was a different world populated by different beings. Elves, demons, faeries, and the such. The Elves and the Demons constantly fought each other until the Elves finally imprisoned them with the enchanted tree called the Ellcrys. Thousands of years later the Ellcrys still survives and still keeps the Demons imprisoned within the Spell of Forbidding, but not for much longer. Amberle Elessidil and Wil Ohmsford must set out to find the Bloodfire and put the sacred Ellcrys seed within it. Throughout their journey Amberle learns, understands, and finally accepts the most precious part of being an Elf; Something of the self must be given back to the land.
The Wishsong of Shannara - The Ildatch, ancient source of evil, stirred to new life, sending it's Mord Wraiths out into the world of Man. The Mord Wraiths were once human, but had been subverted and mutated into evil demons by the Ildatch. Now the entire world and all it's Races were threatened at being exstinguished by the evil magic. Only Brin Ohmsford had the power to stop it by use of the Wishsong. But it was just music, a toy that she fooled around with, along with her brother Jair which also possessed the Wishsong but at a lesser extent. How could it possibly withstand something as evil and loathsome as the Ildatch. A toy was all it was, or had she been brought up to think it just a toy?
The Heritage of Shannara
The Scions of Shannara - Three hundred years have passed since the death of Allanon, and the Four Lands are not even remotely the same. the Elves have vanished, the Dwarves have been enslaved and slaughtered, and the Federation has total rule over the Southland, making magic strictly forbidden. Summoned by the Shade of Allanon, the Scions of Shannara are given charges to fulfill if the Four Lands are ever to revert back to the way they once were. Par Ohmsford was to find the legendary Sword of Shannara which everyone has known has been lost for over 100 years. Wren Ohmsford was to seek out the Elves and bring them back to the world of Man, and Walker Boh was to bring back lost Paranor and the Druid as well. All of these tasks are manifestly impossible.
The Druid of Shannara - The shade of Allanon charges Walker Boh with bringing back lost Paranor and the Druids. But the last of the Druids have been dead for 300 years. How can this be accomplished? Teamed up with Morgan Leah, Quickening; daughter of the King of the Silver River, and Pe Ell; an assassin who plans to eventually kill Quickening, they set out to find the Black Elfstone. This brings them into the mists of Uhl Beck; the King of the Silver River's brother, and a faerie creature much like him, but changed so remarkably by the power of the Black Elfstone. Throughout their quest each of them receives something back from the elemental Quickening, which they thought was surely lost.
The Elf Queen of Shannara - With the Four Lands in serious danger by the Shadowen, destroying it's life giving land, and it's people, it is a haven compared to the demon infested island of Morrowindl. Wren Ohmsford travels to the island in search of her charge given by Allanon; to find and bring back the lost Elves to the Four Lands. In the process she learns the answers and truths to many things. Her heritage, her lineage, her birth right, but most important of all, Wren learns the truth about the Shadowen; who they really are.
The Talismans of Shannara - The Sword of Shannara, Paranor, and the Elves are once again a part of the Four Lands. All of the charges have been successful, and the greatest chance to destroy the Shadowen, once and for all is at hand. With the Shadowen secret finally revealed and the charges given by the Shade of Allanon carried out, the only thing that's in the way is that the Scions of Shannara have to get together and share what they know. Once that happens, nothing will stand in their way.
The Shannara Prequel
First King of Shannara - The Druid's of Paranor had devoted themselves to the study of the old sciences. Only Bremen and few others still studied the arcane arts. And because of that he found himself an outcast. But this removal from Paranor was not a bad thing, for during his travels Bremen learned that dark forces were brewing in the Northlands. And at the heart of the evil, was a former Druid named Brona. Who was now known as the Warlock Lord.
The Voyage of the Jerle Shannara
Ilse Witch - When a half-drowned elf is found floating in the seas of the Blue Divide, an old mystery resurfaces. Thirty years ago, an elven prince led an expedition in search of a legendary magic said to be more powerful than any in the world. Of all those who set out on that ill-fated voyage, not one has ever returned. Until now. The rescued elf carries a map covered with mysterious symbols–and Walker Boh, the last of the Druids, has the skill to decipher them. But someone else understands the map’s significance: the Ilse Witch, a ruthless young woman who wields a magic as potent as his own. She will stop at nothing to possess the map–and the magic it leads to.
Antrax - As the crew aboard the airship Jerle Shannara is attacked by evil forces, the Druid’s protégé Bek Rowe and his companions are pursued by the mysterious Ilse Witch. Meanwhile, Boh is alone, caught in a dark maze beneath the ruined city of Castledown, stalked by a hungry, unseen enemy. For there is something alive in Castledown. Something not human. Something old beyond reckoning that covets the magic of Druids, elves, even the Ilse Witch. Something that hunts men for its own designs: Antrax. It is a spirit that commands ancient technologies and mechanical monsters, feeds off enchantment, and traps the souls of men. With the Jerle Shannara under siege and Antrax threatening the bold and unwary, the Ilse Witch finds herself face-to-face with a boy who claims to be the brother she last saw as an infant. Now a young man, Bek wields the magic of the wishsong and carries the Sword of Shannara upon his back. Unsure whether to trust Bek or to slay him, the Ilse Witch takes him prisoner. One has come pursuing truth, the other revenge. Yet both seek Walker Boh–with the fate of the Four Lands hanging in the balance.
Morgawr - the quest at last draws to its climactic conclusion, as the forces of good and evil vying against each other to possess an ancient magic race towards an explosive clash—and whatever fate awaits the victor . . . and the vanquished. Harrowing confrontations with the merciless Ilse Witch and the monstrous Antrax have already taken their toll on the intrepid heroes of the Four Lands. But their darkest adversary now snaps at their heels, in the form of the Morgawr—master of the Ilse Witch, feeder upon the souls of his enemies, and centuries-old sorcerer of unimaginable might. With a fleet of airships and a crew of walking dead men at his command, the Morgawr is in relentless pursuit of the Jerle Shannara and the crew that mans her. For the Morgawr, the goal is two fold: to find and control the fabled ancient books of magic, and to destroy the dark disciple who betrayed him—the Ilse Witch. But the Ilse Witch is already a prisoner . . . of herself. Exposed to the awesome power of the Sword of Shannara, and forced to confront the truth of her horrifying deeds, she has fled deep into her own mind. Now at the mercy of those who seek vengeance against her, her only protector is her long-lost brother, Bek Ohmsford, who is determined to redeem his beloved sister . . . and deliver her to the destiny predicted for her by the Druid Walker Boh.
High Druid of Shannara
Jarka Ruus - Twenty years have passed since Grianne Ohmsford denounced her former life as the dreaded Ilse Witch—saved by the love of her brother, the magic of the Sword of Shannara, and the destruction of her evil mentor, the Morgawr. Now, fulfilling the destiny predicted for her, she has established the Third Druid Council, and dedicated herself to its goals of peace, harmony among the races, and defense of the Four Lands. But the political intrigue, secret treachery, and sinister deeds that have haunted Druid history for generations continue to thrive. And despite her devotion to the greater good as Ard Rhys—the High Druid of Paranor, Grianne still has bitter enemies. Among the highest ranks of the Council she leads lurk those who cannot forget her reign of terror as the Ilse Witch, who covet her seat of power, and who will stop at nothing to see her deposed . . . or destroyed. Even Grianne’s few allies—chief among them her trusted servant Tagwen—know of the plots against her. But they could never anticipate the sudden, ominous disappearance of the Ard Rhys, in the dead of night and without a trace. Now, barely a step ahead of the dark forces bent on stopping him, Tagwen joins Grianne’s brave young nephew, Pen Ohmsford, and the wise, powerful elf Ahren Elessedil on a desperate and dangerous mission of search and rescue—to deliver the High Druid of Shannara from an unspeakable fate.
